How Desperate Are You?
The more desperate you are, the less your pride, fear, and society’s opinions matter.
Suppose you haven’t eaten in a day. You’ll be uncomfortable, but the day will pass.
What happens when a week goes by and you still haven’t eaten?
What happens when 3 weeks go by?
Pride? Society’s opinions? What use are they when you are starving?
This is what hunger does to us. We become desperate.
Failure becomes unacceptable.
How hungry are you to reach your goals? How desperate are you?
Beware of answering this too quickly. Your answers will not truly be yours. It will be fed by society and its preconceptions.
Conflict in our life comes from the misunderstanding and deception of ourselves.
Just like how you look different from others. Your interests and your levels of interest are completely different.
You have your preferences, likes and dislikes. And someone else has their preferences, likes, and dislikes.
The level of desperation is different for everyone.
You may be ok with certain things and someone else may not be. They are not better than you. They are themselves and you are you.
The problem arises when you compare the un-comparables.
Who wouldn’t want to make $200,000 per year? How many people get there?
Most people aren’t willing to put in the effort necessary to get to the places they “want” to be. They are not desperate enough and fear wins over.
How desperate are you? 10%, 30%, 50%? Or are you starving?
To the starving man, the impossible becomes possible.
Pride loses its meaning.
Fear becomes irrelevant.
Failure is unacceptable.
